Meet Dr. Amy Kinlaw

Dr. Kinlaw grew up in Winston-Salem. She attended Calvary Baptist Day School through her 8th grade year and went on to graduate from Mount Tabor High School where she participated in many extracurricular activities, most notably cheerleading. She graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Biology. After a brief stint back in Winston-Salem teaching Biology at Calvary Baptist Day School, Dr. Kinlaw pursued a degree in dentistry from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. During that time, Dr. Kinlaw received the Senior Student Award for Pediatrics from the State of Florida and she knew pediatric dentistry was where her heart was. She entered the pediatric dentistry post-doctoral program at Nova Southeastern University and Joe DiMaggios Children’s Hospital where she completed a rigorous two-year residency program.

Dr. Kinlaw is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Amy has been involved in a number of non-profit programs, including A Day for Children, Give Kids a Smile, and the Caridad Center for Children, all of which provide much needed dental services to low income families. Dr. Kinlaw is currently working to become a charter member for Operation Smile in Guatemala.

Meet Dr. Devin Norton

Dr. Devin Norton was born in central California and raised in a wonderful family. At four years old, his family took one for the team and moved to Hawaii for his dad’s job. It is here that Dr. Devin’s love for the outdoors began to flourish. He spent a lot of time at the beach snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, and enjoying childhood with lots of friends. He then moved to Reno, Nevada, where he finished middle and high school. He was always active in sports and continued to love the outdoors despite the climate being very different from Hawaii. In Reno, he stayed busy playing water polo, skiing, mountain biking, and skateboarding. He had a bad accident as a teenager that landed him in the hospital… wear a helmet, kids.

After high school, Dr Devin returned to his beloved island of Hawaii to attend Brigham Young University-Hawaii, where he learned that in order to play hard, he had to work hard. He was able to keep up on his studies and still enjoyed the fun and beauty the island had to offer.

After his fun in the sun, he served a two-year proselyting and service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in St Louis Missouri where he taught the gospel and helped with service projects like food pantries, yard work, tornado clean up, and many others.

Dr Devin was able to finish up his bachelor’s in microbiology at Brigham Young University Provo, and then head south to the desert where he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. At the tail-end of his time in dental school, he met his now wife Addey (and her poodle puppy Collette). They dated long distance until Dr Devin finished his schooling and was able to move closer. After dating for a whole six months, Dr Devin proposed, she (and her poodle) accepted, and they were married three months later in Draper, Utah.

Starting a new life together, they moved from Utah further north to the land of potatoes in Idaho Falls, Idaho where Dr Devin worked in a pediatric dental office for 18 months. They loved their time there, however the winters were a little too cold for their family, so they decided to move to the beautiful state of North Carolina!

Dr Devin loves working with kids and makes it his top priority to provide a good experience for every patient that comes to his chair. He does this with goofy jokes, voices, magic tricks, quoting movies, and his “tiny hands” (be sure to get a fist bump to see for yourself).
